Hello Beautiful Community and welcome to May!
I am delighted to be here on Substack (big waves) and welcome new subscribers and old friends! Plans for this space and MotherHouse of the Goddess are underway and will be rolling out through this month and summer. I will be offering weekly posts on the Goddess HolyDays for the week and how to connect to those Goddesses. And I am lining up authors for podcasts!
Did someone say Novenas?? Yes! For me, May has always been the “Mary” month of May. I am prepping self-guided Novenas and the first is Queen of Heaven - aspects of the Blessed Mother. The Black Madonnas Novena will also be opening towards the end of May.
This Spring has been a bit rough, especially with the sudden, recent loss of my chubby, chatty, kitty familiar, Noodle. Remembering the Samhain and Beltane are cross quarters; as new life is blooming, the Ancestors whisper to us from beyond the veils. Loss can occur anytime, but there is something poignant about the echoes of the Dark Mothers right now. Take this month to refresh your Ancestor altar and spend some time meditating with them.

Check your intentions from the turn of the year. How are they blooming? Walk a labyrinth this month in honor of all the Maries. Decree yourself the Queen of May and act accordingly. Leave offerings of milk and honey for the Sovereign Goddesses of the land on Beltane. Add flowers to your garden or home that are sacred to Mother Mary: lily, geranium, rose, marigold, morning glory, pansy. Bless your Beloved in the names of Sita and Rama. Dance around a bonfire in honor of Bona Dea, the Good Goddess. Contemplate the figure of Sheela-na-gig and how she leads you to meditation on your feminine power and body. Adorn yourself in flower garlands. Walk the fields and forest and leave little offerings for Maia Maiestas, Gaia, Bendis, & Artemis. Honor Kallynteria & Plynteria by cleansing your sacred space and rededicating it this month! Offer prayers to Oranta for Ukraine. ~ Maia Maiestas is an Oscan Earth Goddess and Matroness of the month of May. Her Feast Day is May 15.
~ The month of May is dedicated to Our Blessed Mother Mary and the Black Madonnas.
~ Flores de Mayo (Flowers of May) is a month-long festival to Virgin Mary in the Philippines.
~ May Full Moon is also known as the Flower Moon, Hare Moon, Corn-Planting Moon, and Milk Moon.
